The 2010 Indianapolis 500 is more than eight months away, but preparations for "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing" will reach top speed during testing Sept. 29-30 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves and 2007 Indy winner Dario Franchitti are among five IndyCar Series drivers testing on the historic 2.5-mile oval. Castroneves earned his third Indy victory in May.
Castroneves (Team Penske) and Franchitti (Target Chip Ganassi Racing) will conduct tire tests for Firestone on Tuesday, Sept. 29 and Wednesday, Sept. 30. Testing a new rear-wing aerodynamic configuration proposed for the 2010 Indianapolis 500 will be Marco Andretti (Andretti Green Racing), Vitor Meira (A.J. Foyt Enterprises) and Tomas Scheckter (Dreyer & Reinbold Racing) on Wednesday.
It will be Meira's first time in an IndyCar Series cockpit since he suffered back injuries in a crash during the Indianapolis 500 in May.
Testing is scheduled from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. (ET) both days. Spectators can watch for free from the infield stands south of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum.
Centennial Era Van Heusen Ladies Blue Tonal Oxford.
The 2010 Indianapolis 500 is scheduled for Sunday, May 30.
