My mother and father have been married for 40 years this year. Before that they dated 4 years and have watched the idy 500 every single year for 44 years together. This year they are at indy and having the time of their lives. They arrived Monday and will leave next Tuesday. They call every night. They have met Rick Mears ( a favorite driver of theirs). They have been on the track. Touched the brick yard. Indy has been a family tradition my entire life. We always make our first batch of homeade ice cream of the season during the running of the indy 500. In fact 44 years later and mom and dad have it down to an art. 2 children and 3 grandchildren later, and everyone knows that you don't take your first bite of homeade ice cream until the announcer says "gentlemen start your engines." When the television says that indy is the greatest spectacle in the world, well according to what my parents have experienced up until now, it is 100% true.
MOM & DAD I Love you --- from your oldest -Wendy.
