How do the people of Indy feel with race blacked out? I have been told that is the decision of IMS not the network. How can the greatest race be blacked out for the town that hosts the race. Let's start a grassroot effort and get this changed. I have been told it has always been done this way. Well I say enough let's do something about this. Devoted fan in Brownsburg IN |

In this day and age T.V. coverage blackouts are ridiculous. Anyone living close to the track would be much better off to attend in person anyway. The coverage of the race was horrible, no continuity to it at all! I only hope that I can attend a race in person someday so I'll be able to follow it from start to finish. I remember watching races in the 70's & 80's and they were much easier to follow all the cars on track. I would give the networks a D- for their broadcast. Scott Goodyear saves them from the F! There was an inappropriate amount of time spent on Danica, but on the other hand I bet Dixie is not complaining when he cashes his check! I would reccommend to anyone that is living close to purchase a ticket and not depend on watching lousy television coverage. |

Verna made the suggestion that we help start a grass roots effort to help the locals get an opportunity to see the race on TV. You said you weren't happy w/ the TV coverage and encouraged all to buy a ticket....... Hmmmm, seems very unsupportive of what Verna said; so how is that an "agreement" ???? Ok guess we just "agree to disagree"; but I think is is all commercially driven. The people who put up the production money for events just don't want to miss out on a single ticket sale; so they cause blackouts. It happens more than it should; seems horribly unfair and - like many things in life, shuts out all lower income fans. I've an idea; why don't we give Max and a couple of his buddies some cameras and see if they do a better job next year; because you see I agree with him, too. No offense Dude; I bet you'd cover it just fine ..... but in the meantime, tell your friends that some folks might enjoy seeing it w/o paying more. Help Verna out. Heck you won't even be able to see the next Indy 500 w/o paying for your TV somehow; what with the new regulations ...... either you buy a box or get cable or dish......... sheesh; life is soooooo unfair at times ! |
