    World Class Moto Gran Prix

Thanks to those for bringing this race to IMS. This is a wonderful opportunity to bring the excitement of motorcycles to everyone. In my opinion these guys have more courage and daring than NASCAR. No roll cages here. The rate of acceleration on these bikes rivals the best race cars. To see riders from all over the world compete is close to motorcycle Nirvana, sort of like the Olympics but closer to home. Many bikers from Ohio and others will be glad to see this. The SPEED Channel on cable has only wetted our appetitie to see these men race, elbow to elbow. Wow.
It is my hope this race will be advertised greatly by the motorcycle industry and attendance be large.

God bless America and see you all in September.

    I hope Mikey is wrong....

I'm crossing my fingers for the success of motogp at indy, and hoping that Mikey is off the mark. That said, i wonder if indy isn't getting too full of itself---Superbowl? isn't that more like a vegas/miami/la crowd than indy?
that said, i think the Motogp riders might find our town a little tame, but i sense that the crowd that comes to see the race will have a good time here. maybe rossi will enjoy not being mobbed everywhere he goes.

    hope this works, but...

as a HUGE MotoGP fan myself (attended Laguna 04-06, Mugello and Catalunya 07, tickets for Laguna and Indy 08) - a lone lap in front of a fraction of the 500 race crowd in a city that could care less about this sport won't do much. Indy (where I lived 00-08) is a non-destination (as compared to the beauty of Laguna Seca and the Pacific coast), is nearly devoid of character from both a human and geographic standpoint, is a place where Nicky or even Valentino can walk down the streets unrecognized. I hope the event does well, but the small and steadily falling crowds for F1 from 01 to 07 at Indy and ultimately the event being pulled, bodes poorly for MotoGP success. I will be there, but unless there is a truly comprehensive marketing effort (better than a single, low-profile lap - please) MotoGP is going nowhere in Indy.
