Yes, Kristi did really wave the green flag. I was there, about 50 feet from her as she did it.
Did Kristi really wave the green flag to start the race? She was not shown on camera waving the flag, and the announcers never mentioned her at all. Maybe she wasn't there after all. We did have Helio and Julianne crammed down our throats all during the parade and on race day. Here's a scoop: they were LAST Year's Dancing with the Stars winners. Kristi is THIS year's winner. By the way, Julianne should keep her day job. She's not a singer.
